What's for Dinner?
From our kitchen, Chef Robin's suggestions
Our range of delicious, fresh food changes daily. The weather has certainly warmed up lately, so our salads have been very popular. The Gado Gado is a winner, an Indonesian vegetable salad teamed with a tasty peanut sauce. Also, the noodle salad; a vegetarian treat with tempeh, vermicelli noodles and loads of fresh vegetables - an appetising meal to be served either hot or cold. There are two new spring soups to try: the wonderfully fragrant Tom Kar Gai, a Thai chicken soup, exciting the palate with coriander, galangal and lemongrass. This soup hits all the sweet, sour, salt and heat notes. Another soup we recommend is Cream of Tomato, a family favourite; fragrant with fresh basil and finished with a touch of cream. Delicious with a fresh sourdough loaf or baguette. Another meal suggestion for you and your family is our red kidney bean and vegetable lasagne. Warm up in a 180 degree oven for 20-30 minutes and serve with a simple salad of baby spinach leaves, avocado and cucumber. Our quiches serve four, so heat one up for either lunch or dinner. There are several flavours to choose from, including pumpkin, caramelised onion and thyme or spinach, mushroom and bacon. Now to dessert! Rob has made a terrific tropical fruit trifle, with fresh strawberries, mango, paw paw and passionfruit. This is the perfect weekend dessert for after a BBQ. Another type of trifle you will love, our version of the sophisticated Italian sweet, Tira Mi Su. If you fancy a warm dessert, the superb steamed citrus delicious pudding comes highly recommended. This dessert is sweet, tart and comforting all at once. Try it with our best farmhouse yoghurt from Elgaar Farm in Tasmania.
